Football: Belgium top Fifa rankings again but England on the rise, Singapore highest since 2017

PARIS (AFP) - Belgium hold on to top spot in the latest Fifa world football rankings released on Thursday (April 4) while England are on the rise, snatching fourth place from World Cup finalists Croatia.
The top three positions are unchanged with World Cup winners France in second spot ahead of Brazil, in third.
England move up one place on the strength of convincing Euro 2020 qualifier wins against the Czech Republic and Montenegro last month while Croatia, who reached the 2018 World Cup final before losing to France, retreat one place to fifth.
Germany, rebuilding following their humiliating exit from the 2018 World Cup in the group phase, are also moving up.
They rise three places to 13th on the back of their victory over the Netherlands in the Euro qualifiers last month.
Austria slid 11 places to 33rd, the biggest drop in the rankings, after Euro qualifier defeats by Poland and Israel in March.
Uruguay, Portugal, Switzerland, Spain and Denmark make up the rest of the top 10.
Singapore gained five places to 160th - their best position since 2017 - as other teams around them fell in the rankings.
Iran rose a spot to 21st and are still the strongest Asian side, followed by Japan (26th) and South Korea (37th).
The Lions remained sixth among Asean countries, behind Vietnam (98th), Thailand (114th), the Philippines (124th), Myanmar (140th)and Indonesia (159th).

The teams of the member nations of FIFA, football's world governing body, are ranked based on their game results with the most successful teams being ranked highest. The rankings were introduced in December 1992, and eight teams (Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain) have held the top position, of which
